Charlie Kirk’s Assassin Texts: ‘I Did It’ — Media Swoons Over Boyfriend Angle

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced that Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, now faces aggravated murder and a series of additional charges after prosecutors released shocking new evidence. Text messages between Robinson and his transgender boyfriend, Lance Twiggs, reveal what authorities describe as both a confession and clear proof of premeditation.

On the day of the murder, Robinson texted Twiggs to check under his keyboard. There, Twiggs found a handwritten note that read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” According to court filings, police later recovered the note. The discovery sparked a series of disturbing exchanges in which Robinson admitted he pulled the trigger, described his failed efforts to retrieve the murder weapon, and begged his boyfriend to delete their messages. When Twiggs asked if he was the one who did it, Robinson replied, “I am, I’m sorry.” He explained that he had been planning the attack for more than a week, stashed his rifle in a bush, and worried about leaving fingerprints behind. He urged Twiggs not to talk to the media and to ask for a lawyer if approached by police.

Despite the damning evidence, the mainstream press has already shown sympathy for the killer. ABC News correspondent Matt Gutman described the texts as “very touching,” noting that Robinson seemed to be trying to protect his boyfriend. That reaction sparked outrage online, with one user on X, @Bonchie, pointing out that, “All it takes is transgenderism being involved, and suddenly the mainstream press thinks the shooter and his boyfriend are a touching love story. Insane.”

Meanwhile, the FBI confirmed that more than 20 people tied to a Discord chat group are under investigation for possible involvement in planning the assassination. Robinson’s own mother told police her son had grown “more pro-gay and trans-rights-oriented” over the past year, which prosecutors suggest may help explain his motivation.

With this new evidence, prosecutors are moving forward in seeking the death penalty, calling the crime a premeditated, politically motivated act of domestic terrorism. While some on the left attempt to romanticize the killer, the reality revealed in Robinson’s own words is undeniable: this was a calculated and cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk for his beliefs.
