OSCAR WATCH: Is Lydia Tar a real person and can she be stopped?

Tar has been nominated for Best Picture and though it is not the frontrunner, neither was Moonlight or last year’s winner CODA. The film is so well conceived that many believed that the titular character, Lydia Tar, was based on a real life conductor. It’s become a meme to pretend that she is a real person and she should be canceled immediately. But in reality, Cate Blanchett (Nightmare Alley) simply brought to life the screenplay so well that the story reads as reality. 

But does the “real” quality of the story make it any good? The Conservative Critic asks: Is it entertaining? Does it have intellectual/artistic value? And is it liberal propaganda?
