This week, it was announced the Dallas Mavericks will stop playing the national anthem before home games.
The decision was made by owner Mark Cuban, who declined to expand on the decision.
While sports have been highly politicized lately, this is a particularly surprising decision because Mark Cuban has previously rejected the “cancel culture” mentality and expressed his support for American tradition.
When NFL players were choosing to kneel during the national anthem, Cuban told the press “This is America, and I’m proud of people who speak out civilly. That’s who we are as a country.”
Continuing “I’ll be standing there with my hand over my heart. I think the players will be [standing]. I expect them to be.”
In just 3 years, he’s gone from expecting players to stand, to banning the anthem at his games?
Suspicious change of heart, if you ask me.
