Unless you lived under a rock you undoubtedly have heard of one of the world’s most famous alleged murderesses, Amanda Knox. To refresh your memory, Knox was convicted and then acquitted of the murder of Merideth Kercher while studying abroad in Italy. At the time, her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito was also a person of interest. Since then, Rudy Guede was convicted of the murder of Kercher.
Knox and Sollecito had met up in Italy for the first time in 15 years since the murder of Kercher. The two went to an Italian town they had intended for a date the day that Kercher’s body was found. Is their love story back on?
No, the two former suspects are just friends now. Knox brought along her daughter and husband to meet Sollecito in an effort to gain some closure and move on past discussing the case.
For Guede’s part, he continues to deny his responsibility for the death of Kercher. He said recently to Corriere della Sera:
“In my sentences it is written: in collaboration with Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito and none of the judges considers me materially responsible for the crime…”
“Then they are both acquitted. So I ask you: who did I collaborate with?”
The reappearance of Knox in the media comes just after the surprise acquittal of Adnan Syed, another famous accused murderer who was recently acquitted after his case became famous in the pop culture ether.
