The Biden administration is ramping up its efforts to deal with the expected surge of illegal immigrants that will enter the United States once Title 42 is lifted. However, their strategy is not as straightforward as it seems.
Rather than sending troops to repel illegal immigrants, the administration is actually sending 1,500 troops to the southern border to help manage the influx. According to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, these troops will be performing administrative tasks, such as data entry and warehouse support… not actually stopping the illegal border crossings and protecting this nation.
While the administration is continuously promoting this “action” as a positive, the reality is that this regime is not interested in stemming the tide of illegal immigration. Instead, they are more concerned with avoiding the negative press and rushing in their next generation of voters.
Once Title 42 expires, it is expected that up to 13,000 illegal immigrants will cross the border each day, resulting in nearly 5 million over the course of a year. This is an unsustainable situation that will only further strain our already overburdened resources.
The only person with the power to change this situation is Governor Greg Abbott. Last year, he successfully used his leverage to force Mexico to do more to control the flow of illegal immigrants. He could do the same again by shutting down the bridges that Mexico uses to ship goods into the United States. Alternatively, he could declare an invasion under the U.S. Constitution and begin using state personnel to deport migrants.
But don’t count on it.
