The Left’s Gerrymandering Meltdown — And Why It’s Pure Hypocrisy
Democrats are hyperventilating because Texas Republicans, with President Trump’s blessing, are gearing up to redraw the state’s congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterms — a move that could give the GOP as many as five extra House seats.
In protest, Democrat state lawmakers literally fled to Illinois to block a quorum in the Texas House. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is now asking the state Supreme Court to kick the absentee group out altogether.
But here’s the hypocrisy: Democrats cry “foul” when Republicans redraw maps in Texas, yet turn a blind eye to deep blue states that run some of the most lopsided districts in America.
- Illinois: Democrats control 14 of 17 House seats — despite Trump winning 44% of the vote in 2024 (2.4 million voters).
- Massachusetts: All 9 House seats are Democrat — despite Trump getting 36% of the vote (1.2 million voters).
Both are textbook cases of gerrymandering — manipulating district lines to give one party a baked-in advantage. And yes, it’s legal. The Supreme Court ruled in 2019 that partisan redistricting is a political question outside federal jurisdiction.
The left’s been doing this for decades, but now that Republicans are fighting back in Texas, Indiana, Missouri, and Florida, they’re suddenly clutching their pearls. As Rogan “DC Draino” O’Handley put it:
“Democrats have gerrymandered this country for decades & now they’re mad Republicans are finally fighting back.”
And this fight may be just the beginning. Trump’s also looking to scrap the 2020 census — which counted millions of illegal aliens, inflating Democrat power in the House and Electoral College. As he posted on Truth Social:
“People who are in our country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS.”
Bottom line? The map wars are here — and Republicans aren’t playing defense anymore.
