Why Spencer Pratt Terrifies California’s Political Class

Spencer Pratt for mayor was not on my 2026 bingo card. But honestly? I’m here for it.

Because what Spencer has become is Gavin Newsom’s worst nightmare: someone who lost everything and refused to shut up about it.

This isn’t a guy who hates Gavin Newsom for all the regular reasons (cause he sucks!) but a very real one. Spencer watched his actual home burn down because of bureaucratic incompetence and now details the regulatory insanity that has made rebuilding basically impossible.

That’s what makes him dangerous to the political class.

Politicians know how to dodge reporters. They know how to bury stories. They know how to wait out the news cycle.

What they don’t know how to handle is TikTok, Instagram, and a real person with nothing left to lose telling the truth every day in front of millions of people.

Social media made him impossible to erase. They can’t confiscate his megaphone. They can’t memory-hole his experience. And they can’t spin their way out of what he watched with his own eyes.
