Governor Ron DeSantis is poised to make a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing his intention to run for president. Joining him in a Twitter Spaces session will be Elon Musk, the visionary behind the tech giant, and David Sacks, another billionaire.
Many ardent supporters of the 44-year-old Florida governor are hopeful that his entry into the Republican primary will create a significant upheaval, challenging the dominance of former President Donald Trump. However, the reality is that DeSantis’s presidential aspirations have been an open secret in political circles. There is no potential for a dramatic shake-up when we’ve all known Tiny D was a candidate since November 2022.
While I’ll give DeSanctimonious credit for utilizing a social media platform like Twitter for the official launch as it is undoubtedly a savvy move, it carries the risk of falling flat. What if Trump were to return to Twitter tomorrow? Such an event would 100% overshadow the announcement and stealing the limelight.
Admittedly, the prospect of that happening does seem appealing and I truly hope we get a Trump tweet out of all of this.
Best of luck, Meatball!
