In recent developments, the Biden administration has been discreetly ramping up its procurement of Covid-19 equipment and enlisting advisors to oversee “safety protocols.” These actions have set off speculation regarding the possibility of fresh rounds of lockdowns looming on the horizon.

Allocating Resources for Covid Preparedness: Recently uncovered government contracts, including those from the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), have shed light on significant investments being channeled into testing kits and related equipment. A considerable portion of these contracts is slated to take effect in the forthcoming months.

Notably, the DOD has greenlit a contract worth $1.5 million for Covid testing equipment to Hologic Sales and Service LLC. This arrangement is set to initiate in October, running through to May 2024. Concurrently, the VA has taken steps to engage three distinct companies, collectively receiving $6.6 million, for tasks encompassing viral testing, provision of testing supplies, and consultation services geared towards formulating “adequate Covid-19 safety protocols for federal contractors.”

These revelations have emerged at a time when media outlets are fervently speculating about an impending surge in Covid-19 cases. Simultaneously, reports are circulating regarding the Biden administration’s contemplation of a gradual reintroduction of lockdown measures.
